The UK men’s golf team sits in a tie for third place, in a field of 17, after the first round of the Adams Cup of Newport golf tournament being played in Newport, R.I. The Cats had three holes left to play in the second round before play was suspended due to darkness.

Senior Andy Dustman led the way for Kentucky, firing a first-round 69, putting him in second place on the individual board. As a team, the Cats posted an 8-under par 296, leaving them three strokes behind tournament leader Virginia Tech.

The Cats will finish the tournament on Wednesday.
