Kentucky junior Rahim Esmail advanced to the semifinals of Flight A1 Singles at the Middle Tennessee Fall Invitational Tournament Saturday. The tournament is scheduled to wrap-up on Sunday.

Esmail received a bye in the first round before defeating Evansville’s Clemens Klein in the second round (7-5, 6-0). In the third round, he beat Vanderbilt sophomore Chad Brown on Saturday(6-2, 7-6).

Esmail was also competing in doubles with Matt Emery. The pair lost their match Sunday to Ciorascu and Gard of Ole Miss.

Emery and Alex Hume both dropped their first round singles matches on Friday. Emery fell to Johnny Berrido of Louisville in Flight A1 Singles (6-1, 6-4). Hume was defeated in Flight B Singles by Arkansas-Little Rock’s Sebastian Faulk (6-2, 6-3).

Both Emery and Hume will be competing in consolation rounds Saturday and Sunday.
