The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team continues its seven-game homestand on Thursday, Sept. 19 when it plays host to Southeast Missouri State at 7:30 p.m. ET. It is the first meeting between the Wildcats and Otahkians who bring identical 4-2-0 records into the match.

“Southeast Missouri has four shutouts in four wins,” Coach Warren Lipka said. “They’ll bring in a potent offense having outscored their opponents 16 goals to four, and they’ve taken over 100 shots this season. We’ll have to play one of our best games defensively as they are capable of putting up big numbers.”

Forwards Erika Todd and Diana Poovey lead the Otahkians with four goals and an assist for nine points each. Todd owns a team-high 19 shots as Poovey boasts two game-winning goals and a hat trick recorded in Southeast’s 8-0 blanking of Belmont on Sept. 1. Lisa Schweppe is also making her presence felt in her first season in Cape Girardeau. The St. Peters, Mo., native has collected three goals and two assists for eight points through six collegiate games.

For the Wildcats, senior defenders Courtney Pollock and Christal Mattingly recorded career firsts in UK’s 2-1 comeback win over Northwestern on Sept. 15. Pollock, a transfer student-athlete from Indiana in 2001, posted her first goal in a Kentucky uniform, while Mattingly collected her first assist through 59 games played from 1999-02. All-Southeastern Conference forward Elizabeth Ramsey continues to lead the Wildcat offense in goals (3), points (8) and shots (19).

The match with Southeast is the third of seven straight at the UK Soccer Complex. Vanderbilt (Sept. 27), Arizona (Sept. 29), South Carolina (Oct. 4) and Florida (Oct. 6) round out the home stand before the Wildcats hit the road for Georgia on Oct. 11.
