Kiawah Island, S.C. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team opened the fall season with a sixth-place finish at the Cleveland Golf Kiawah Island Invitational at the Turtle Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, S.C., on Tuesday.
Leading the way for the Cats were senior Ryan Coyne and sophomore Brandon Waldrop, who both finished tied for 10th place at 5-over-par with a total score of 221. The tournament marked Waldrop’s debut as a Wildcat golfer after transferring from Western Kentucky University. 2002 All-Southeastern Conference performer John Holmes finished in 35th place with a three-day total of 229.
Other UK scores were Jack Hudson with a 233 and Andy Dustman with a 242. The Cats return to the links on Sept. 16, when they travel to Toledo, Ohio for the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational.
