The University of Kentucky took second place this weekend at the prestigious Virginia Soccer Classic in Charlottesville, Va. The 20th-ranked Wildcats defeated the 10th-ranked Terrapins of the University of Maryland on Sunday to claim the runner-up position, after losing in heartbreaking fashion on Friday to the Virginia Cavaliers, who have been ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation in preseason polls. UVa placed ahead of UK, with Maryland and Rhode Island rounding out the tournament field.

The Wildcats had three players named to the All-Tournament team, including junior Nathan Fleetwood, who had two assists on the weekend. Fleetwood was joined by freshman Dani Kamras, who scored the game-winning goal for UK against #10 Maryland, and senior J.D. Stephenson, who anchored the stingy Kentucky defense.
