Lexington, KY – Pam Waller, formerly the assistant athletic trainer at the University of Houston, joins the Kentucky athletic training staff and will work primarily with the UK women’s basketball program. Her secondary responsibilities are men’s and women’s golf and rifle. She replaces Amy Marlin, who left the staff in July.

Waller served as the women’s basketball athletic trainer at UH under Coach Joe Curl from 1999-2002. Last year the Cougars advanced to the finals of the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) before falling to Oregon, 54-52, in the final seconds. Her secondary responsibilities included swimming and diving, volleyball, men’s and women’s track and field, softball and football.

“Pam’s background and experience made her a perfect fit for Kentucky,” Senior Athletic Trainer Keith Webster said. “She will only enhance our overall athletic training program.”

Originally from Nashville, Tenn., Waller graduated from Cumberland University in 1998 with a degree in physical education with an emphasis in sports medicine. She was a four-year letterwinner in softball at Cumberland while also serving as a student athletic trainer.

Waller did post-graduate work at Houston, where she received a master of education degree in sports administration in 2002.

“Pam comes to Kentucky with all the athletic training credentials but more importantly, she comes with great enthusiasm for her work,” UK Coach Bernadette Mattox said. “She is excited about joining our program and being a part of our UK family and we are looking forward to working with her.”

Waller is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).
