Maui, HI – Tickets are now on sale to the general publicfor the 19th annual EA SPORTS Maui Invitational Hosted by ChaminadeUniversity, college basketball’s fall classic season kick-off.

Eight teams will compete for the coveted early season title: 2002 NCAARunner-up and five- time NCAA champion Indiana; seven-time NCAA championKentucky; perennial NCAA Tournament competitor Gonzaga, seeking its fifthstraight trip; Utah, coached by Rick Majerus; Arizona State, led by headcoach Rob Evans; Virginia, with 15 NCAA Tournament appearances; Universityof Massachusetts, with a record of 11-8 in eight NCAA Tournamentappearances; and host Chaminade University, whose remarkable upset of thentop-ranked Virginia in 1982 served as the impetus for the creation of theMaui Classic, today known as the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational.

The 2002 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational will be played November 25-27 at the2,400-seat Lahaina Civic Center on the beautiful Hawaiian Island of Maui,less than 1,000 yards from the Pacific Ocean. An unprecedented ninetournament games will be televised live on ESPN. Pairings will beannounced later this month.

With a terrific roster of teams competing, tournament tickets are becomingscarce. Beginning August 15, all remaining tickets go on sale to thepublic, including any unsold All-Tournament Booster Tickets. Ticket mailorder forms may now be downloaded from the tournament web site atwww.mauiinvitational.com. For those who wish to call and use a credit card,they may call Oahu Travel at 800.826.3822 (a surcharge will be applied).

A limited number of All-Day Reserved and General Admission tickets will bemade available for purchase at various on-island ticket outlets beginningFriday, October 11, 2002. Locations will be announced at a later date.On-island outlet sales will be limited to two tickets per person/per day,and will be cash only, with no phone orders or credit cards accepted.

Due to high demand, a limited number of Monday single game tickets will beavailable prior to the opening of the Lahaina Civic Center Box Office onFriday, November 22. Single game tickets for Tuesday and Wednesday will goon sale at the Box Office as the brackets are played out.

In addition, Stadium Club and Tip-Off Banquet tickets are still available.The Stadium Club provides an exclusive area for ticket holders to relax withcatered food and non-alcoholic drinks. The Tip-Off Banquet will be held onSunday, November 24, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring alumni and civicgroups as well as all competing teams and coaches.

All remaining game tickets will go on sale at the Lahaina Civic Center BoxOffice starting Friday, Nov. 22 at 9 a.m. HST (2 p.m. EST).
