Lexington, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team signed Fort Mitchell, Ky., native, Andrew Stephens for the 2002-03 season, Coach Brian Craig announced Friday. Stephens comes to UK from Covington Latin High School and will join Matt Kohn of Florida on the Wildcats’ list of signees.
Stephens currently holds a Golfweek junior ranking of 52nd in the nation. He was honored as an All-American and was named Kentucky Post Player of the Year. In 2001, Stephens was the Ninth Region Champion and earned medalist honors at the Tucson Desert Open in Arizona.
“Andrew is a model student-athlete who will be a great addition to our team,” Craig said. “His athletic ability combined with his character and academics make him a perfect fit for our program. He has proven he can win golf tournaments, and I fully expect him to have a wonderful career as a Wildcat.”
Stephens will make his Wildcat debut in the fall of 2002.
