BATON ROUGE, La. – University of Kentucky junior track and field athlete Janet Crawford closed an exciting season on Thursday with a third-place finish in the women’s high jump at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Baton Rouge, La.
Crawford, a native of Hillsboro, Ky., had a leap of 5-10.50 in the event to tie with Iowa State’s Gina Curtis in the event. Darnesha Griffith from UCLA took first place with a jump of 6-00.00. Crawford has enjoyed an excellent season, capturing both the Southeastern Conference Indoor and Outdoor Championship in the high jump, while setting a career high at the Georgia Tech Invitational two weeks ago with her jump of 5-10.75.
UK returns to action on Saturday, June 1 with the men’s shot put and women’s triple jump competitions.
