Atlanta, Ga. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team took fifth place in the Atlanta Intercollegiate on Saturday, May 10 with help from a second round team score of 286. The Cats took finished in fifth out of 13 squads.
Freshman John Holmes led the way for the Cats. The Campbellsville, Ky., native fired a final round 68 to catapult himself into a seventh-place finish with a 4-under par 212. Junior Andy Dustman also secured a top 25 finish with two-day total of 222. Other UK scores included Jack Hudson with a 224, John-Gordon Beckett with a 225 and Mark Blakefield with a 229.
The tournament concludes the team-season for the Cats. Holmes will continue to play as an individual when he accepts his bid to the NCAA Regionals. The freshman will compete the Central Region and travel to Little Rock, Ark., on May 16-18 to begin his quest for an NCAA Championship.
