Atlanta, Ga. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team currently sits in eighth place after the opening round of the Atlanta Intercollegiate on Thursday, May 9 after posting a team score of 296. The Wildcats placed three competitors in the top 25 after the first day.

Leading the way for the Cats was senior John-Gordon Beckett. Beckett, a senior playing in his final tournament, fired an opening-round 71 to sit in a tie for ninth-place. Freshmen Jack Hudson and John Holmes shot a 73 and 74, respectively, to stay in the hunt for medalist honors.

UK trails leader Georgia by only six strokes with one round to play. The tournament will conclude on Friday with the final round set to begin at 9 a.m.
