Travis Day, a 6-3, 245-pound defensive end from Columbus, Ga., has signed to play football at Kentucky, Coach Guy Morriss announced Wednesday.
Day was an all-region and all-city selection as a senior at Carver High School. He had 404 tackles in his career, including 15 quarterback sacks. He has an excellent combination of size, strength, and speed, as he runs a 4.7-second 40-yard dash. Day plans to enter UK in January, 2003, and will count toward the 2003 signing class.
“Travis is just what you look for in a defensive end – a big, good-looking kid who can run,” Morriss said. “He comes out of a good program with Coach (Wallace) Davis at Carver High School. Coach (Wesley) McGriff did a good job recruiting Travis. We’re very excited about Travis’ decision.”
