WALNUT, Calif. – The University of Kentucky track and field teams wrapped up competition at the 2002 Mt. San Antonio College Relays in Walnut, Calif., on Sunday, April 21. Sophomore David Freeman finished second in his section of the men’s 800 meters with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:48.69, a season best for the N. Miami Beach, Fla., native.

Also shining for the Wildcats was junior Janet Crawford, who won her section of the women’s high jump with a personal best 5-10.00. It tops a previous high mark of 5-09.25 for the Hillsboro, Ky., native.

James Doaty also performed well in the men’s 800 meters with a season best time of 1:49.10, taking second in his section as well. Chad Johnson was fifth in the same sectional with a time of 1:49.72. Sophomore Paul Ciurlys was second in his section as well with a personal-best mark of 1:49.51.

Sophomore Beth Heimann won her section of the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:07.66, while Jack Morgan was third in his section of the men’s 1,500 meters with a time of 3:49.75.

The Wildcats return to action on Thursday, April 25, when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa., for the 2002 Penn Relays.
