Coach Morriss Quotes
On Lorenzen and Pinner this Spring…
“Jared took another step in the learning process with this offense and he had a good winter. We would like to put the ball in Pinner’s hands 20-25 times a game. We just need to give him the ball and get out of the way.”
Pinner as a leader …
“He is a behind-the-scenes kind of guy, but he has the respect of his teammates. He wants the ball and tries to make the best of every opportunity he has.”
Last spring vs. this spring …
“We had a way to go coming out of spring last year. The kids were kind of scratching their heads, especially defensively, but that is expected with only 15 practices. This year they are more comfortable. That last drive we scored on we let Jared call his own plays, which shows how comfortable he is with this offense.”
Depth of team…
“We have 30-35 guys who we can line up and play with, but after that depth is a concern.”
FG Kicker…
“Right now we have three or four. We’ll let them battle it out. It’s a good problem to have.”
#20 Artose Pinner
On the Blue/White Game…
“It was huge. This spring is all about gearing up for the fall.”
On the play of the game…
“I got frustrated at times, but it wouldn’t be good to have the number one defense and offense on the same team, so that’s ok.”
On the team’s progress…
“Offensively, we’re where we want to be but we have room for improvement. We’ve just got to get things done when we need to get things done.”
#2 Quentus Cumby
On Kentucky’s play…
“I just want to thank God and my coaching staff for putting me in the right position to make plays. We just wanted to have a good spring and we have so far.”
On the game…
“It went real good. Some people stepped up, Tommy Cook and Alexis Bwenge stepped up real good. Now, we’re just going to wait and get ready for fall.”
On his ‘easy going’ performance…
“I’ve been here too long not to let loose now. I thought to myself, one more year, might as well let it all hang out and show some emotion out here.”
