The University of Kentucky baseball team will take a break from Southeastern Conference play to host Lipscomb in a 6 p.m. game on Tuesday, April 16 at Cliff Hagan Stadium. The Wildcats (14-20) were swept over the weekend by No. 3 Alabama and will look to snap their three-game losing skid against the Bisons (17-19), who dropped all three contests at Tennessee Tech in their weekend series with the Golden Eagles.

“It’s important for our ball club to get on a winning streak as we are at our midpoint in the season,” Coach Keith Madison said. “We continue SEC play at Georgia this weekend and wins against Lipscomb and Western Kentucky this week would provide us with positive momentum entering the league series.”

Gordon Tyler recorded his most productive weekend of the season as the junior outfielder went 5-for-10 (.500) with two runs scored, five RBIs, two doubles and a home run against No. 3 Alabama. His solo blast to left was his third of the year and the Wildcats’ only offense in their 10-1 setback Saturday night to the Crimson Tide. The Dixon, Ky. native has hit safely in a team-leading six games.

Senior second baseman Jeremy George has started all 36 games for Lipscomb and leads the Bisons in batting average (.378), hits (51), doubles (14) and RBI (34).

Junior Rob Corrado (0-1, 7.06 ERA) will get the starting nod on the mound for UK, while Lipscomb has not announced a starter in the fifth meeting between the two institutions.
