Nashville, Tenn. – ranked Vanderbilt Commodores (24-3) on Saturday, April 13 at the Currey Tennis Center on the Vanderbilt Campus. The Commodores defeated the injury-plagued Wildcats (15-7) by a score of 7-0.
In doubles action the Cats got off to a solid start despite ultimately losing the opening point. Seventh-ranked Carolina Mayorga and Sarah Witten picked up an impressive win over ninth-ranked Aleke Tsoubanos and Sarah Riske on court one doubles. The Commodores would pick up wins on courts two and three to eventually take the doubles point and the 1-0 lead.
In singles action it was all Vanderbilt, as the Commodores swept all six courts on their way to clinching the match and tallying the 7-0 victory.
The Wildcats will look to revitalize their winning ways next weekend, April 18-21, when they travel to Columbia, S.C., to take part in the 2002 Southeastern Conference Championships. The Championship pairings will be released on Sunday, April 14.
