KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Kentucky track and field teams completed its first day of competition at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn., on Friday, April 13. The event, which takes place at Tennessee’s Tom Black Track concludes on Saturday.
Kentucky had several fine performances in the field events with Chris Daniel taking second place in the men’s high jump and Janet Crawford placing second place in the women’s high jump. Jeff Chakouian placed fourth in the men’s discus while Aisha Smith was seventh in the hammer throw.
Paul Ciurlys and James Doaty finished in the top-15 in the men’s 800 meters in 11th and 14th, respectively. For the women, Beth Heimann had a seventh-place performance in the 800 meters.
The Wildcats return to action on Friday, April 19 when they split squads to attend the Eastern Kentucky Invitational in Richmond, Ky., and the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.
