The University of Kentucky baseball team will play host to Austin Peay on Wednesday, March 13 at Applebee’s Park in a single game scheduled for 3 p.m. ET. The Wildcats (8-8) and Governors (6-5) first met on the diamond in 1980, with UK owning a 9-2 lead in the series.

The Wildcats are coming off a weekend in which they took two games out of three from Mid-American Conference power Ball State, while Austin Peay shocked sixth-ranked Florida 12-8, in Gainesville, Fla. on Thursday, March 7. Junior catcher A.J. Ellis went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs and senior Casey Callaway came on in relief, dominating the Gators in 3.1 innings, allowing no hits and striking out four. UF bounced back to take the series with a 17-2 win last Friday and a 13-4 victory on Saturday.

Junior right-hander Rob Corrado (0-1, 11.45 ERA, 13 K) will take the mound for UK against APSU. Corrado, named the No.6 prospect in the Southeastern Conference for the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft by Baseball America in the preseason, will be making his third start of the season.
