University of Kentucky sophomore Selia “SeSe” Helm was named to the All-Southeastern Conference second team, announced by the league office today.
Helm, a native of Bowling Green, Ky., ranks among the SEC’s best and leads Kentucky in three statistical categories: scoring – 5th (17.0), free-throw shooting percentage – 6th (79.1), and rebounding – 11th (6.7).
The 6-4 center has scored in double figures 25 of 27 games this season, 10 with 20-plus points, including a career-high 26 against Cincinnati and Evansville. She scored her 600th career-point in only her 42nd game as a Wildcat, the second fastest player to accomplish the feat since UK Kodak All-American Valerie Still (1979-83) did it in 29 games. She now has surpassed the 700-point mark with 753.
The All-America candidate has recorded five career double-doubles, four this season. She has been the Cats’ leading scorer in 16 games, the leading rebounder in 11 contests.
Helm was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team last season.
