Gainesville, Fla. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team currently stands in eighth place on Friday, Feb. 22, after an opening round 305 at the Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The Lady Kats sit only seven strokes back of the three-way tie for the lead between SEC foes LSU, Georgia and host Florida.
Leading the way for the Lady Kats are junior Kelly Anders and senior Towa Okiyama. Anders posted an opening round 74 to position her in a tie for 14th place, while Okiyama fired a 75 to earn a 19th-place tie. Other UK scores included Kristen Pepe’s 77, Lauren George’s 79 and Stacy Springer’s 81.
The tournament will continue with the second round of play on Saturday, Feb. 23 with the action slated to begin at 8 a.m.
