– The University of Kentucky rifle team defeated Rose Hulman, 6038-5998, on Saturday, Feb. 2. The Cats were led by junior Robert Krukoski and freshman Jeff Hamberg in the victory.
Entering the kneeling portion of the smallbore competition down by 10, Hamburg pulled out a personal best 394, to give the Cats the lead by six. Hamburg’s overall smallbore score of 1164 Also is a new personal best, while Krukoski grabbed his new personal best in the air rifle competition with a 387 to secure the Wildcat victory. Crystal Hamilton finished third among the Cats with a 1129 total, with Curt Fulmer finishing with 1096, only three points from his personal best.
” I am very proud of this team right now,” Coach Harry Mullins said. ” Overall the team performed at a high level and if they continue with this then I think we could see some good things in the future.”
The Rifle Cats hope to continue those good things on Saturday, Feb. 10 when they travel to Murray, Ky., for the NCAA Sectionals.
