LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky track & field teams return to action on Friday, Feb. 1 and Saturday, Feb. 2, when they play host to the Rod McCravy Memorial meet at the Nutter Field House on UK’s campus. Field events begin on Friday evening at 7 p.m. and action resumes on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
Kentucky is coming off a solid performance at the Southeastern Conference East Championships on Jan. 26. Hunter Spencer won the men’s mile, posting a time of 4:02.63, the second fastest indoor time in school history. Jeff Chakouian won the men’s shot put with a throw of 64-00.25.
The women had strong performances from several athletes, including freshman Beth Heimann, whose third-place time of 2:05.72 in the women’s 800 meters was a school and personal record. Freshman Aisha Smith threw nearly two-feet further than her previous best in the women’s weight throw and broke the school record with a toss of 59-03.50.
The meet includes teams from Eastern Kentucky, Bowling Green, Alabama A&M, Alabama, Miami (Ohio), DePaul, Virginia Tech, Appalachian State, Georgia, Georgia Tech and East Tennessee.
