Moore Named to Knoxville News-Sentinel and Coaches’ SEC All-Freshman Teams: Defensive tackle Ellery Moore has been chosen for the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team as named by the Knoxville News-Sentinel. Moore also was selected by the SEC coaches, the league office announced Thursday.

Moore had 21 tackles this season, including 15 primary stops and six assists. He had 4.5 tackles for loss for 15 yards, 1.5 quarterback sacks for 10 yards, four quarterback hurries, and a pass breakup. His best game came in UK’s win over Ball State when he had seven tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss.

Moore played in eight games, including starting assignments against LSU and Georgia. Moore sustained a season-ending knee injury against Mississippi State and missed the last three games of the season. He had reconstructive knee surgery and is expected to be at full speed when the Wildcats return to practice in August.

Players Working Out, Preparing for Examinations: The Kentucky football team didn’t waste any time in starting to get ready for the 2002 season.

On Sunday, Dec. 2, the day after the regular-season finale, the Wildcats had team meetings and watched film of the Indiana game. Off-season strength and conditioning workouts began Monday, Dec. 3. The players will work out six times before leaving campus for Christmas break.

The players also are preparing for final examinations, which will be held Dec. 10-14.
