CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: Western Kentucky 73, George Washington 48
Western Kentucky is 2-0 after winning the tournament championship. The Hilltoppers play host to Evansville on Tues. Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. CST.
George Washington is 1-1 and plays at Texas A&M on Monday, Nov. 19.
WKU broke a 13-13 tie on a Raynardo Curry basket with 8:21 remaining in the first half and never trailed again. The ‘Toppers’ final margin of 25 points was the largest of the game.
WKU had a balanced attack with four players scoring in double figures.
WKU had two great defensive performances, limiting GW to 27.9 percent field goal percentage after holding Kentucky to 33.9 percent on Thursday night.
Tournament MVP Chris Marcus notched a double-double in both games of the tourney. He had 19 points and 10 rebounds tonight, both of which were game highs. Marcus had 20 double-doubles last season.
Derek Robinson had a great all-around game with 17 points, six rebounds, and seven assists.
Chris Monroe led the George Washington effort with 15 points.
