The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will conduct the first of two exhibition games this season on Monday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum against the Basketball Travelers’ Den Helder Basketball Club of Holland.

Den Helder is noted as one of the top two teams in the Netherlands and is led by 5-8 guard Jennifer Surlas who has scored 27, 19 and 14 points respectively in her three previous games. Center Jane Thackray leads the team in rebounds, pulling down seven against Ohio State on Sunday.

Kentucky returns eight letterwinners from last year’s squad, including all five starters. The Cats are anxious to test the waters after two weeks of intense practice.

“We are ready to see how we can play together,” senior LaTonya McDole said. “Practice has gone really well and we are ready to test our skills against another team.”

UK will also play an exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 10 versus Premier Sports at 7 p.m. in Memorial. Admission is free for both games.
