Mid-American Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament Bracket
MAC Tournament Semifinal Notes
With its 2-1 victory over Akron on Nov. 3, the University of Kentucky men’s soccer team claimed the Mid-American Conference regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament. This will be the first time the Wildcats have held the coveted top position. Despite tying for the MAC title last year, UK was seeded fourth by the conference’s tiebreaking rules.
With the No. 1 seed, the Cats also earn a bye into the semifinals on Sunday, Nov. 11. UK’s opponent will be the winner of the No. 5 Bowling Green/No. 4 Buffalo matchup. Should Kentucky advance to the championship game, that match would be held at the UK Soccer Complex on a date yet to be determined.
UK has won the last two MAC Tournaments, earning the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. In 1999, the Cats defeated Northern Illinois for the crown with a 2-1 victory in Lexington. Last season, UK claimed a 1-0 triumph at Bowling Green.
Since joining the league in 1995, Kentucky has advanced to the semifinals each season and is an impressive 11-4-0 (.733) in that span.
