The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team opens its last road trip of the regular season when it faces No. 15 Furman in the first round of the Florida International University Invitational on Friday, Oct. 26. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at University Park on the FIU campus.

The Cats (9-4-1) are in the midst of a five-game win streak, the longest of the season, and are undefeated in the Mid-American Conference at 5-0-0. John Monebrake leads the UK offensive charge with eight goals and 19 points, while Chris Soler moved into second on the team with five goals after a four-goal outing against Georgetown College on Oct. 17.

Ilkka Jantti, UK’s leading defenseman, also has shown a knack for scoring, tallying four goals and four assists. J.D. Stephenson and Nathan Fleetwood are tied for fourth on the team with 10 points. Brian Mitts is tops on the team and the MAC with five assists.

In goal, Greg Raber has been solid for the Cats, collecting nine saves and three shutouts while surrendering just two goals for a 0.40 goals-against average. Since entering the lineup on Oct. 5 at Bowling Green, Raber is 5-0-0.

The Paladins (10-3-0) started the season well, winning their first seven matches but have lost two of its last three. However, FU rebounded its last time out with a 7-2 victory over VMI. Sergei Raad is first on the team with 25 points on eight goals and nine assists, while John Barry Nusum leads the way in goals with nine. Scott Blount has seen most of the minutes in goal (1,024), collecting 42 saves and surrendering 13 goals for a 1.14 GAA.
