INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team extended its winning streak to two with a 1-0 victory at IUPUI on Sunday, Oct. 7. With the win, UK defeated its second Great Lakes Region top-10 team in as many outings.
The Cats (6-4-1) had a couple of chances early in the first half but were unable to capitalize until the 54th minute. Nathan Fleetwood served a free kick into the box that J.D. Stephenson took off the defender and sent to Clark Miller for the game-winner. The goal was Miller’s first of the season in just his second game as a Cat.
“We were very determined and focused today,” Coach Ian Collins said. “The game turned into a real struggle, but we got a good result against a good team.”
On the day, IUPUI outshot Kentucky 11-9 and held a 7-1 corner kick advantage. In his second game in goal, UK’s Greg Raber collected three saves to secure the win, his first shutout of the season.
