The University of Kentucky volleyball team returns home to play host to a mid-week non-conference game with in-state rival Morehead State on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m

The Wildcats (6-5, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) split their weekend SEC matches, losing to No. 9 Florida, 3-0, on Friday before recording UK’s first victory over Georgia since 1996 on Sunday, 3-1. The Cats also tallied their sixth win of the season on Sunday, tying Kentucky’s win total from last year’s disappointing 6-21 season with 14 regular-season matches left to play.

Freshman Sarah Spinner led Kentucky last weekend and posted a career-high 22 kills in UK’s win over the Bulldogs. Her .356 hitting percentage on Sunday was another personal best. Junior Kristen Batt recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 16 kills and 14 digs.

Morehead State (11-4, 4-2 Ohio Valley Conference) is coming off two conference victories this weekend over Tennessee Tech and Tennessee State. MSU is led by sophomore left-side hitter Cherelle Lampkins, who has posted 3.75 kpg and 4.82 dpg.

The last meeting between the two programs came on Sept. 1, 1998, a 3-0 UK win, and marked Coach Jona Braden’s first match as UK’s head coach.

All UK home matches are played in Memorial Coliseum. Admission is free.
