WELLS NAMED SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior goalkeeper Beth Wells has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for Sept. 17-23, the conference announced today.

The Cincinnati, Ohio (Sycamore) native led Kentucky to three victories, including two shutouts over regionally-ranked Utah and Ohio State. Allowing only one goal for the week, Wells recorded nine saves and owns a 0.43 goals against average (second-best in SEC) through seven games.

Wells has compiled 18 career shutouts, including a conference-leading four shutouts during the 2001 campaign, and currently trails Carrie Kuhnell by five shutouts on the UK career list. Kuhnell garnered 23 shutouts in the UK net from 1995-98.
