The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team begins its season on Friday, Sept. 21, in the University of Tennessee St. Mary’s Health Care Classic Fall Tournament. It will be the squad’s first action since the 2001 NCAA Championships.

The annual Classic is a flighted tournament that will feature such top-level teams as North Carolina, Minnesota, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State and host Tennessee. All nine Wildcats are slated to compete.

“We have been working hard all fall,” Coach Mark Guilbeau said. “We are excited to get this season started and pick up where we left off last season.”

UK finished the 2000-01 season ranked in the top 25 and boasting two All-Americans. The tournament will begin on Friday, Sept. 21 with action concluding on Sunday, Sept. 23.
