Eight current and former University of Kentucky track and field athletes were named to the 2001 Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, league Commissioner Roy Kramer announced. The 2001 honor roll is based on grades from the 1999-2000 academic year.
Beth Burkett (nutrition and food science major) and Elizabeth Attig (secondary education) repeated their honors from last season, while Heidi Quast (kinesiology) made the list for the first time.
On the men’s side, repeat honorees were Jeff Limpert (natural resource conservation and management science), Jack Morgan (political science), Barry Pronold (chemistry), Andrew VanderWagen (pre-pharmacy) and Joe Varney (art education).
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 grade-point average for either the past year or their career, must be a sophomore or higher in academic classification, and must have 24 semester hours toward a degree.
