KNOXVILLE, Tenn.– The University of Kentucky track and field squads completed day three of the Sea Ray Relays with some solid performances on Friday, April 13, at Tom Black Track on the campus of the University of Tennessee. As usual, the men’s team was led by freshman phenom Jeff Chakouian, who finished second in the open section of the discus throw with a heave of 164-04.00. Andrew VanderWagen also gave the Cats a second-place finish with his leap of 6-08.00 in the high jump. The men were also supported with seven seasonal-bests: Scott Theis in the shot put; Hunter Spencer, Paul Ciurlys, Jack Morgan and Justin Amason in the 800 meters; and Thomas Morgan and Kevin Panke in the 1,500 meters. For the women, Simidele Adeagbo gave UK its highest finish with a sixth-place effort in the triple jump (41-01.00). Caity Phillips ran a personal-best 4:29.32 in the 1,500 meters, while Beth Heimann ran a strong 2:12.95 in the 800 meters. Also earning season bests were Janet Crawford in the high jump and Elizabeth Kittredge in the pole vault. The Cats close out competition at the Sea Ray Relays on Saturday, April 14. Action gets underway at 9:15 a.m. with the open section of the men?s hammer throw.
