The 21st-ranked University of Kentucky men’s swimming and diving team continued its participation in the NCAA Championship meet and remains in 16th place after day two.

Shaun Zitani nearly broke his own school record again in the 100 butterfly, finishing 18th in the event. Two more top-20 finishes came in the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay as the Wildcats captured 13th place in both, moving up two spots from their qualifying position in the medley relay. In the 200 freestyle, Macon White took 22nd, while David Tweedie placed 34th. Roger Watkins finished 21st in the 100 breaststroke, and divers Aaron Kirkpatrick and Clayton Moss finished 12th and 18th, respectively, in the three-meter.

In tomorrow’s session at Texas A&M’s Student Rec Center, Zitani and Aaron Workman will compete in the 100 freestyle, while Roger Watkins will swim the 200 breaststroke. Kirkpatrick and Moss will dive on the platform. The squad will also look to come back at night in the 400 freestyle relay.
