The University of Kentucky gymnastics team is making preparations for the 2001 Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Championships to be held at the Barlow Arena in Birmingham, Ala., on Friday, March 23. Action is scheduled to get underway at 7:05 CST.

The GymKats are 7-10 overall and 0-5 in the always powerful SEC this season but have been on a roll the past few weeks, collecting five wins in the last three meets. UK is ranked 28th in the nation and sixth in the Central Region with a 194.855 regional qualifying score, and the GymKats look to score a solid total this weekend to improve their regional standing and advance to the regional championships on April 7. Over the last six weeks, UK has averaged 195.008.
