(Mar. 8, 2001) — The University of Kentucky men’s tennis team fell to No. 27 Indiana State, 5-2, on Thursday, March 8, at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex on UK’s campus.

The Cats fell behind early after dropping the doubles point as the duo ofjunior Johan Grunditz and freshman Matt Emery grabbed UK’s only win with an8-4 victory over ISU’s O’Connell and Mihailovic.

Senior Edo Bawono got the Cats off to a good start with a straight-setvictory over Jonas Piibur at the No. 1 position before Emery was dealt atough loss at No. 2 to Stefan Hirn. ISU’s Vedran Vidovic notched astraight-set win over Kentucky freshman Karim Benmansour, while juniorGustav Pousette fell in three sets to Lovre Brojkovic. Grunditz grabbed awin at No. 5, but the Cats were outdone at No. 6 as freshman Todd Scheckdropped his match with Andras Intriago after taking the first set to atiebreak.

The Cats return to action on Saturday, March 10 when they play host tointerstate rival Indiana at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.
