After a career night against No. 22 Illinois, University of Kentucky freshman Aronda Primault was named the SoutheasternConference Gymnast of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 13, the league office announced.

In her first outing in all four events, Primault established career highs on each apparatus on the way to winning the all-aroundtitle. She placed second on the vault with a 9.825 and first on the floor with a 9.875. In the all-around, she claimed top honors with a39.075, 0.6 greater than the second place finisher.

“This is such an incredible accomplishment for her as a freshman,” Coach Leah Little said. “We knew she had a lot of potential,and it is great that she is beginning to show it so soon.”

Her performance also led the GymKats to match a school record with a total score of 195.875, increasing UK’s season average to193.990. The increase moved the GymKats up to No. 23 in the GymInfo national rankings.UK returns to action when it travels to Denver, Colo., to take on No. 18 Denver in a dual meet on Friday, Feb. 16.
