(Jan. 31, 2001) — Senior Melissa Olson was named the Southeastern Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday, January 31.

Olson was awarded the honor following her pool record-breaking performance at Cincinnati. The Bearcats’ Laurence Pool record in the 400 individual medley stood 14 years before Olson shattered it on Saturday, Jan. 27. She already had an NCAA provisional cut in the 200 individual medley, and her time last weekend provisionally qualified her in the 400 individual medley as well.

This is the second Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week award the Wildcats have received this season.
