The University of Kentucky gymnastics team will hold its 18th annual Excite Nite gala on Friday, Jan. 5, at 7 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum. The theme for this year’s gymnastics kick-off is “Jungle Gym.”

This year’s Excite Nite will feature a scrimmage-type atmosphere as the gymnasts compete against one another in all four events. The crowd will be divided into two separate cheering sections that will compete for prizes. Featured performances will include crowd favorite Percy Price as “Cisqo Cat,” as well as Brooke Little andthe GymKat Dancers. Also on hand will be the UK national champion cheerleaders, the UK pom squad, theWildcat mascot and Scratch.

WKYT-TV’s Dick Gabriel will serve as master of ceremonies, and numerous prizes will be given awaythroughout the evening, including free dinners, Nike apparel and other surprises.

“This year the crowd is going to see a different type of atmosphere at Excite Nite,” Coach Leah Little said.”They will see a lot more gymnastics, which will get the gymnasts better prepared for a season of toughcompetition.”

Reserved seating is $5 andgeneral admission tickets are $3. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. with Excite Nite beginning at 7 p.m.
