All-SEC Teams

Overall Kentucky has named 14 players to the All-SEC team, four players to the SEC All-Tournament team, three players to the All-SEC Freshman Team and have charted six Players of the Week.

SEC Good Works Team

Former Wildcat Tiffany Wait was named to the inaugural women’s basketball Southeastern Conference Good Works Team which highlights a member of each school who gives back to their community.

Junior LaTonya McDole is this season’s representative for the SEC Good Works Team.

McDole is a frequent speaker at various schools and organizations in Lexington and enjoys visiting children and youth camps.

UK’s Valerie Still shares the record for most points by an individual in the SEC Tournament with Tennessee’s Shelia Collins. Both players scored 90 points in three games in 1982 and 1985, respectively. Still solely owns the most rebounds grabbed by an individual in the SEC Tournament with 44 rebounds in three games. She also garnered SEC Tournament MVP honors in 1982 after being named to the All-Tournament team the two previous seasons.

Twenty-one years ago, during the 1979-80 academic year, the SEC began to recognize league championships for women in basketball.

Last season the Cats advanced to the quarterfinal round of the SEC Tournament for the second straight season. The Cats hit seven of eight free throws in the final two minutes to defeat Alabama in the first round before falling to nationally-ranked Georgia. The Tide was eliminated from its opening game for only the sixth time in the event’s 21-year history.

UK’s last SEC All-Tournament Team selection was Stacy McIntyre in 1992.

That year, the Cats defeated Arkansas and Auburn in the first and second rounds before falling to Tennessee in the semifinal game, 94-80. UK’s semifinal appearance in Chattanooga, Tenn., in 1999 marks the highest SEC Tournament finish for the Cats since winning the tournament in 1982.
