The University of Kentucky men’s and women’s swimming teams have had a number of swimmers earn spots on Taper and Shave’s Top-25 Times list. The men boast 17 top-25 times, while the women have 14.
Shaun Zitani is ranked No. 1 in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.04. Zitani is also in the top five for the 100 freestyle (5th) and in the top ten for the 100 butterfly (7th). Aaron Workman has snagged the 12th spot in both the 50 and 100 freestyles, while Macon White holds the 12th spot for the 200 freestyle in addition to being ranked 10th in the 500 freestyle. David Tweedie is 12th in the 1,000 freestyle and 14th in the 500 freestyle. Roger Watkins, who broke his own school record in the 100 breaststroke at the Texas A & M Invitational, grabbed the 8th spot with that time as well as coming in at No. 7 for the 200 breaststroke. To round out the individual events, Eddie Clement slid onto the list at No. 24 in the 400 individual medley.
All of UK’s relays made it onto the list, with the 200 freestyle grabbing the highest ranking at No. 2, following are the 400 freestyle (3rd), 800 freestyle (10th), 200 medley (17th), and the 400 medley (19th).
Jaime Siegele commanded the highest spot for the Wildcat women. She was ranked fifth in the 50 freestyle and ninth in the 100 freestyle. Carolyn Rader was 12th in the 500 freestyle and 20th in the 200 freestyle. Melissa Olson grabbed the ninth spot in the 200 individual medley, and took 12th in both the 200 backstroke and 400 individual medley. Kelli Stein and Debra Hinsley also squeezed onto the list at No. 24 in the 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly, respectively.
The Kentucky women’s relays all made it onto the list as well. The highest-ranking relay was the 800 freestyle, which snagged the sixth spot. The 400 medley relay was No. 11, the 400 freestyle relay was 15th, and the 200 freestyle and medley relays were ranked 18th.
