The University of Kentucky women’s golf team is currently in third place following the first round of the Pine NeedlesWomen’s Collegiate Championships at the Pine Needles Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. The Kats posted a 299 in theopening round and are just eight strokes behind leader Alabama.

“We had a really impressive day on the course,” Coach Bettie Lou Evans said. “I hope we can continue to putt the way wedid today and secure a good finish in our final fall outing.”

The tournament continues through Wednesday, Nov. 8, with 18 holes being played each day. This is the final fall outing for Kentucky.
