The University of Kentucky women’s tennis doubles team of Brooke Skeen and LeighBradwell was eliminated from the NCAA All-American Tournament in Los Angeles onWednesday, Oct. 18.
Skeen and Bradwell had received an automatic bid into the qualifying round of thetournament. In the opening round, the duo defeated Shannon Duffy and Colleen Chengof Northwestern in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. Unfortunately for the nation’s 44th-rankeddoubles team, the next round found them matched up against 31st-rankedJanet Walker and Vladka Uhlirova of Texas who defeated them 6-3, 6-3.
UK still boasts one team remaining in the tournament. Carolina Mayorgaand Sarah Witten received a bid to play in the main draw. Mayorga andWitten are the nation’s 11th-ranked doubles team and are among the final16 teams. The Wildcat tandem will be in action on Thursday at the RiveriaCountry Club in Los Angeles.
