The University of Kentucky men’s golf team finished in 14th place on Tuesday, Oct.17, at the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate in Tampa, Fla. The Wildcats finished three rounds at Old Memorial Golf Course with a total of 909. The Florida Gators took the title with a total of 858.Seniors Wes Furnish and Pat Kelly led the way for the Cats finishing in a tie for 47th place. Both UK upperclassmen shot a 10-over par 226 for the two-day tournament. Troy Muller of Ole Miss took medalist honors with his 5-under par 211.
Other UK finishers included junior John Beckett and sophomore Andy Dustman with a 230 and freshman Matt Wells with a 240.
This tournament will conclude the fall season for the Cats. The golf team will begin its spring season in February when they again travel to Florida for the University of Florida Invitational.
