Robinson Named to SEC Good Works Team: Senior wide receiver Jimmy Robinson has been named to the Southeastern Conference Good Works Team. Robinson will be featured as the Good Works Team Player of the Week on Saturday’s Jefferson-Pilot Sports telecast of the Georgia at Kentucky game.
Robinson has volunteered for numerous community service projects in the Lexington. He has mentored children in the Big Buddy and Big Brothers/Big Sisters programs. He has participated in the Read Across America program, Dr. Seuss Read-A-Thon, UK’s Schoolhouse Rock academic pep rally for elementary school students, and the Micro City Government Youth Lock-in. He has been a visitor to Veterans Administration Hospital, the UK Children’s Hospital, and the Shriner Children’s Hospital. Robinson also has been a guest speaker at several area schools.
Previous football players named to the SEC Good Works Team include Leon Smith (1994 and 1995), Littleton Ward (1996), Jimmy Carter (1997), Jeff Zurcher (1998), and Seth Hanson (1999).
McCree Leading SEC in Quarterback Sacks, Tackles for Loss: Senior linebacker Marlon McCree leads the Southeastern Conference in a pair of statistical categories, quarterback sacks and total tackles for loss.
McCree has 5.5 sacks this season, tying him for the league lead with Derrick Burgess of Mississippi and Matt Stewart of Vanderbilt. McCree has 12.5 total tackles for loss this season, combining sacks and losses on running plays. He leads the SEC in that category.
McCree’s tackles for loss have accounted for 65 yards lost by the opponents this season. McCree now has charted 197 yards of opponent losses during his career.
