The University of Kentucky men’s tennis team struggled in the opening rounds of the GeorgiaTech Fall Invitational on Friday, Oct. 13, with junior Reven Stephens falling in his second roundmatchup to Georgia State’s Miha Lisak, 7-5, 6-4.

Stephens received a first-round bye as a seeded player and faced Lisak, who defeated his firstround opponent Nasir Sherazi from South Carolina in straight sets earlier in the afternoon. Alsocompeting for Cats was sophomore Elliot Datlow, who was taken out in first-round action byGeorgia Tech’s Romain Coirault, 6-0, 6-1, and freshman Justin Kinney, who lost a tough battlewith Furman’s Chris Henderson, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

The doubles team of Stephens and Kinney posted an impressive opening-round victory overthe Georgia Tech team of Alex Novinkov and David Wright, 8-4. The duo’s next opponent provedmuch more threatening, as Georgia’s Demetrias Leantis and Todd Carlson took down theKentucky pair, 8-5.

The Cats are back in action Oct. 20-22 when they head to Tampa, Fla. to participate in theUSF Invitational.
