UK Struggles On the Road
Box Score
BATON ROUGE, La – The LSU Tigers swept the University of Kentucky volleyball team 3-0 Friday night. The win was LSU’s first over UK at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center since 1992.
UK (4-11, 2-2 SEC) struggled once again with its passing and serving game. The Cats committed 10 service errors. The service errors, in combination with a .153 hitting percentage, spelled doom for the Big Blue.
“Right now we are having a difficult time connecting and we’re committing a lot of unforced errors,” said coach Jona Braden. “We are a talented team and much better than what we are showing on the court. Our play is not up to the level of our talent.”
Despite hitting below .200 percent, LSU (7-7, 2-2 SEC) continued to attack the net and took full advantage of the Cats’ miscues. Jennifer Hampton led the Tigers offense posting a double-double with 15 kills and 21 digs. Meghan Bedford added 11 kills and five digs. Though she tallied only three blocks, Lauren Cuyler dominated play at the net.
Sissy Canfield led a balanced Kentucky attack with nine kills. Megan Weiskircher, Kristen Batt and April Barnhorst contributed eight, seven and five kills, respectively. Batt tallied 11 digs to pace the Cats.
UK travels to Fayetteville to face the Arkansas Razorbacks Sunday. Game time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET at Barnhill Arena.
