The University of Kentucky womens tennis team is sending three participants to Knoxville,Tenn., this weekend, Oct. 6-8, to take part in the annual St. Marys Health Care Tournament held onthe University of Tennessee campus.
The trio of Lauren Rookledge, Jill Buckley and Shannon Stafford will all compete in singlescompetition with Rookledge and Buckley also teaming up to also participate in doubles action. Allthree Wildcats are coming off an impressive showing last week at the Lady Gamecock Fall TennisClassic in Columbia, S.C.
“Although the entire team is not going, this is a great opportunity for Lauren, Jill and Shannon,”Coach Mark Guilbeau said. “All three players have been entered in the upper flights of thetournament and will face great opponents all weekend.”
Other schools participating in the tournament are Florida, Purdue, Minnesota, Georgia Tech,Mississippi State, Furman and N. C. State.
Action in the St. Marys Health Care Tournament will begin on Friday morning at 9 a.m. andcontinues through Sunday.
