University of Kentucky’s Brian O’Leary, a senior goalkeeper, was named Mid-American ConferencePlayer of the Week, the MAC office announced Tuesday, Oct. 3.

O’Leary, a hometown product from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, helped the Cats open up MACplay with two consecutive shutouts, a 1-0 win over Western Michigan and a 4-0 blowout of Northern Illinois.O’Leary faced 11 shots in those two games recording four saves to keep UK perfect in MAC play at 2-0-0.

The two scoreless contests have reduced O’Leary’s overall goals-against average to 0.75, which is good for firstplace in the MAC. O’Leary now has four shutouts on the season (17 for his career) with three consecutivedating back to a 1-0 decision over Western Kentucky on Sept. 24. His scoreless streak extends over 298minutes and one second.

O’Leary’s work also has UK sitting atop the MAC defensive standings. UK has given up only 10 goals,three fewer than any other league team, for a MAC leading 1.00 GAA.
