The University of Kentucky womens tennis team showed again on Saturday that it has a bright future bysending three doubles teams and one singles competitor into the finals of their respective flights at the LadyGamecock Fall Tennis Classic.

Eleventh-ranked Carolina Mayorga and Sarah Witten captured the “A” doubles flight title for the Cats, butnot before defeating fellow UK doubles team Brooke Skeen and Leigh Bradwell in the championship match.

Both duos reached the finals with ease. Mayorga and Witten cruised past North Carolinas Julie Rotondi andKate Pinchbeck, 8-1, while Skeen and Bradwell coasted into the final by defeating Jennifer Radman and KathyBoyanovich of South Carolina, 8-2. The all-Wildcat final was a competitive match with Mayorga and Wittenpulling out a close 8-6 victory over their teammates.

The doubles team of Lauren Rookledge and Jill Buckley competed in the “B” flight final round. Rookledgeand Buckley made the finals by defeating Tamara Sutton and Catherine Brown of South Carolina 9-7. The pairwas handed its first loss of the season by another South Carolina duo in the “B” flight championship. TheGamecock team of Katrina Markovski and Lynn-Yin Tan defeated Rookledge and Buckley in a tight match,8-6.

Wildcats sophomore Leigh Bradwell was the lone Tennis Cat to reach a final in singles play. Bradwell madeher way into the “B-2” singles final match by defeating Whitney Malina of College of Charleston 7-5, 6-3. Shewill face Tan of South Carolina in Sundays final.

The Cats will be back in action on Sunday as play resumes in both “A” and “B” flights as well asconsolation bracket matches.
